Most of the fish farm in Bhutan is warm water aquaculture, however with the introduction of Rainbow trout in 2008, National Research Center for Riverine and Lake Fishes initiated Trout Breeding Center to promote and develop fish culture based on cold water fish species.

Today there are handful of cold fish farms like Tsang Chu Trout Farm in the country especially in Haa which is worth for a visit to understand the aquaculture of Bhutan. The commercial cold fish farm supplies limited fishes in the marker for those who love fresh cold water fishes of Bhutan.

Bhutan is divided into 20 districts known as Dzongkhags, popular ones among tourists being Paro, Thimphu, Punakha, Phobjikha and Bumthang. Regardless, each place offers its own unique experience to the traveler visiting Bhutan.
